The Potato Prizes

Announcing the Potato Prizes: two curated monetary prizes for important, large-scale work related to smart mobs and the volunteer economy.

The prizes will be funded with money from web donations. We are currently forming a panel of curators for each prize who will select winners from a pool of nominees.

The Potato Prize for Public Coordination Arts

We believe that creative organizing is an art form in itself, distinct from theater, film, etc. This prize is given to individuals or small teams for achievement in engaging, organizing, and coordinating the public into a beautiful or provocative pattern of interactions.

The Potato Prize for Financial Innovation in Support of Volunteering and Free Land

The current architecture of the market limits large-scale migration of labor to creative, voluntary projects. This prize is given to individuals or small teams for achievement in the development and deployment of financial and legal innovations that can mitigate risk for, and associate resources with, full-time volunteers and voluntary projects.

Note: These prizes are not for academic or theoretical works. They are for deployed, public, real-world projects. We hope to identify and gather leaders in these fields for everyone's benefit.
